Our ways of working

The BRG has established an annual operational plan, identifying areas where bureaucracy scrutinies will be required.

BRG scrutinies follow a standard procedure and are based on the principles of trust, accountability, simplicity and clarity. The agreed outcomes and recommendations are published on the BRG website.

In the light of proposals around self regulation, the role of the BRG and its sister gatekeeper groups – the information authority and FE Communications Gateway Panel – are being reviewed and proposals around their role and governance will be contained within the consultation on the Machinery of Government changes.

The BRG also plans to develop links with the Implementation Review Unit (schools) and Higher Education Regulation Review Group over the next year.
